About us

After 30 years of navigating the wild waters of the Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak Island as Alaska Gulf Coast Expeditions, we’ve decided to trade in our name for something a bit more streamlined. We are officially Alaska Coastal Outfitters!

Why the change? Mostly because ‘Outfitters‘ is a lot easier to say when you’re reeling in a triple-digit halibut. But don’t worry—while the logo is fresh, the soul of the business hasn’t changed a bit. You’re still getting the same veteran crew, the same secret spots, and the same commitment to the best fishing and hunting adventures in Alaska. New look, same hook. We’ll see you on the water!

Owner and Captain Aaron Mahoney: Born and raised in Ninilchik, Alaska Owner of Alaska Gulf Coast Expeditions and Alaska Coastal Outfitters. Aaron began as a mate (deckhand) of his father Toms boats in the summer starting in 1994. He is now raising his own boys up as deckhands in the summer, many of you have fished with deckhands Rowan or Colin on our boats. Rowan went to school this winter to obtain his Coast Guard License and in the summer of 2026 will be your newest captain at Alaska Coastal Outfitters! Offseason we all enjoy playing in the snow, doing snowmachine trips around the state and the backyard as well enjoy other fishing and hunting adventures in other parts of the world, always taking something we can use from other adventures to apply in our own company.
